John Thomsen (also known as DaddyGuru in various tribes and circles) is spiritual teacher and kundalini lightworker specializing in tantra, intimacy healing, and vibration augmentation practices. Out of the closet since 1984, he has been an LGTQ+ activist and witnessed the societal impacts of homophobia, HIV and AIDS, religious and work discrimination, marriage equality and addiction trends in the gay community over the last 40 years. He is also a survivor of physical abuse, sexual abuse, childhood abandonment and is a recovering codependent.

Therapies & Services
Intimacy+Trauma Healing
Intimacy healing therapy helps you reach your potential related to connection, closeness, healthy vulnerability, pleasure and reduces emotional, physical or psychological barriers relating to self-love and quality intimacy with others. Much of this is caused by unreleased childhood trauma which blocks the "kunda" (your innate feminine). $75 per hour. A normal session is normally 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Tantra Massage (Two Hand)
Tantric massage draws on the principles of Tantra, an ancient spiritual practice originating in Central/Southeast Asia. It involves massaging and stimulating the naked body with focus on cleansing, purifying, harmonizing, balancing and activating key energy channels to arouse kundalini energy which produces healing, spiritual and sometimes orgasmic effects. $75 per hour

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. It employs slow, deliberate strokes and deep finger pressure to alleviate tension and chronic pain. $75 per hour
Reiki Energy Healing
Reiki is a generic Japanese work meaning Universal Life Force Energy or spiritually guided life force energy. REI - Pronounced ‘ray’ is Japanese for universal or spiritual consciousness/wisdom {God consciousness] or a higher dimension of light and the soul, knows the cause of all problems and what to do to heal them. KI - Pronounced ‘key’ is Japanese for vital life force energy that animates everything, also called Prana, Chi, etc. $75 per hour
Gay Sex Education & Counseling
DaddyGuru receives many texts and calls from men all over the world asking for information and advice regarding: Gay sex, Gay health, Gay relationships, Gay culture, Coming out, Best sex practices, Sexual etiquette, Adoption, Polyamory, and more. $75 per hour (virtual or in-person)

Bio
John Thomsen (known in many circles as DaddyGuru) is a gay yogi, tantric facilitator, and intimacy-trauma healer with over four decades of lived experience in spiritual practice, queer embodiment, and relational healing. Out since 1984, John’s work is informed by direct witness to the impacts of homophobia, HIV/AIDS, religious shame, addiction, and attachment trauma within the gay community — as well as his own recovery journey through abuse, abandonment, and codependency.
His teaching integrates authentic tantra, Kundalini yoga philosophy, breathwork, somatic inquiry, and trauma-informed intimacy practices, creating spaces where men can safely reconnect with desire, presence, and self-authority — without bypassing or performative masculinity. John is co-owner of Casa Kāma in Costa Rica, where he facilitates private work and group retreats, and he now brings his teachings internationally.
Alongside his spiritual work, John is an award-winning screenwriter and former senior media project manager, including serving as the first president of OutCBC, where he held space for visibility and equity for LGBTQ+ employees within Canada’s national broadcaster.

Our Manifesto
Before there was language, there was awareness.
Before there was identity, there was presence.
Before there was fear, there was life moving freely through form.
Tantra remembers this.
We live in a time that has rediscovered the body, yet often forgotten the cosmos that breathes through it.
We have learned to regulate sensation, to return to feeling, to name embodiment as healing.
This is important work.
And it is not the whole truth.
At Casa Kāma, embodiment is not the destination.
It is the doorway.
Tantra teaches that the body is not merely a vessel to inhabit, but a sacred convergence point where consciousness recognizes itself in form.
That awareness did not descend into matter by accident.
That eros is not personal.
It is cosmic intelligence expressing itself as pulse, attraction, creation, and return.
This is the heart of Tantra:
Nothing is separate from Spirit - not sensation, not desire, not breath, not pleasure, not grief.
Where some paths seek transcendence by leaving the body,
and others seek healing by staying only within it,
Tantra walks the middle way.
Here, embodiment opens into awareness.
Awareness dissolves into aliveness.
And aliveness reveals freedom.
This is Moksha - not escape from life, but liberation within it.
For queer men, this remembering is especially potent.
Many of us were taught - explicitly or silently - that our desire was unsafe, our bodies incorrect, our longing misdirected.
So we learned to fragment.
To manage eros.
To split awareness from instinct.
Yet Tantra does not ask us to purify desire.
It asks us to listen.
To feel eros as Shakti (creative force)
and to meet it with Shiva (steady awareness)
not to collapse into craving,
not to repress into numbness,
but to stand whole at the center of polarity.
This is the polar experience:
not needing another to be complete,
yet able to meet another without fear.
Wholeness first.
Relationship second.
At Casa Kāma, we cultivate this inner coherence.
We do not fix the body.
We attune it.
We do not override trauma.
We meet it with presence, compassion, and time.
We do not rush awakening.
We allow it to unfold.
Ritual, breath, sound, silence, movement, and touch are not techniques here.
They are sacred languages through which consciousness remembers itself as embodied Spirit.
This work is devotional, not dogmatic.
There is no hierarchy of worth here.
Only reverence for life as it is.
We honor lineage not as authority over others, but as responsibility to truth.
Transmission matters.
Containment matters.
Integrity matters.
This is not spirituality that floats above the nervous system,
and not embodiment that forgets the infinite.
This is Tantra in its living form: inclusive, fierce, tender, erotic, vast.
A path where pleasure refines awareness.
Where presence dissolves shame.
Where liberation is not postponed to another life,
but tasted here, in breath, in flesh, in stillness.
Casa Kāma is not a place to become someone new.
It is a place to remember what has always been awake within you.
There are many spaces to feel safer, calmer, more regulated.
They serve a necessary purpose in this world.
This space exists for those who sense a deeper call.
For those who feel that healing is not the end of the journey.
For those who know that embodiment without Spirit is incomplete,
and Spirit without embodiment is unfinished.
Here, we honor both.
Not as ideas.
As lived experience.
Nothing is added.
Nothing is taken away.
Only the veil softens.
And what remains is presence: free, embodied, and alive.
